Valentines Day 2007
Happy Valentine's Day, everybody! I'm really excited about the Pretty Little Princess Pageant coming up on April Fool's Day. I'm glad I'll be in it but I'm nervous too. I think it'll be fun, though. They'll even give me a trophy and a tiara! I never had a trophy before. I think I'll be using my cousin's pretty dress in the Pageant. She wore it when her dad and mom got married. I still have to come up with a fun casual look. I have ideas in my mind, but we'll see. That's the fun part of it -- putting an outfit together. We don't know what time the pageant starts, but as soon as they contact my mom, I'll be sure to post it on my Web site. Maybe you'll be able to come! I hope so.
Thank you for supporting me.
I love you all!

Hi, Everybody! It's been a REALLY LONG TIME since I updated my Web site. So many things happened since we came back from L.A. My Grandma Rey passed away a few days after we got back to Hawaii. It was very sad, but at least I got to talk story with her before she went to heaven. I miss her a lot -- even now. But I know she's with me -- I just can't see her.
Well, let's see ... I'm on a little break right now from everything. Just doing my homeschooling, playing a lot with my friends and going to my brother's baseball games. Both Del-Louis and David play baseball right now, so we all (me, my mom and my dad) go to their games. We sit in the HOT sun and I cheer for my brothers and their teams to win! Del plays for the Red Sox and David plays for the Tsunamis.
Next month, I'll be taking ice skating lessons at Ice Palace. Do you want to join me? Please call me up and we can take classes together! Then during the summer, I'm hoping to take singing lessons from Shanita Akana. And then, let's see, in the upcoming school year (2006-2007), I'll be taking Performing Acts classes at Myron B. Thompson Academy. So that's my plan.
Thank you all for checking my Web site and for your support!
That's it!

Hi, everybody! This is Prya. We had my Krispy Kreme Donut fundraiser yesterday. It was my first time tasting it, and boy, was it yummy!!!! No wonder people were happy when they picked up their donuts! Anyway, it was fun meeting new people at the Kakaako Park pick up for the people that my dad & mom, Aunty Adele, and Aunty Jenny sold tickets to in downtown. We figure Kakaako would be a better place for them to pick up their donuts than driving all the way down to Ewa Beach. Anyway, it was cool meeting them for the first time.
Mom, Nathan (my brother) and Aunty Doris were at Geiger Park in Ewa Beach, distributing donuts to everybody else.
In total, we sold 150 dozen donuts! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! The profit of a little over $710 will go towards my Hooray for Hollywood, so thank you again!
OK -- bringing you up to date, I went to my acting workshop this past Saturday and Michele, my acting coach, decided that my monologue wasn't "age appropriate". So, now I have to do the other monologue. But that's OK, since I practiced that one, too, and got it memorized. I just have to "feel the part", Ms. Michele said. She and Vitek gave me a "green light" on all the other scripts that I will be doing at IMTA:TV commercial, TV Real People, Sitcom Script, Soap Script, TV Beauty Script and Toys R' Us. These are the categories of the different competitions I'll be in. I'm also going to be in the following competitions: swimsuit, theatrical and commercial headshots.
I also have been practicing my runway walk with my image coach, Vai. He's a super good coach. He doesn't yell -- he gives us a lot of praise and support.
I practice my monologue, scripts and runway at home every day. My mom, dad and brothers are my judges and audience. I have fun and know I'll have fun at IMTA.
Mom got our suitcases out and I just wiped of the dust and spider webs from it! I wanted to start packing but mom said it's too early.
Let's see... Vitek will be doing a wardrobe consultation soon, picking out the clothes that I'll be using at IMTA. I grew so I think we'll have to buy new clothes -- but we need light colored clothes -- pastels. We'll check out Old Navy right after Christmas, when mom said there should be lots of sales.
Yes, I'm really excited and I will try my very very best!
That's it. I love you,
Prya

Ooooooooooo! I'm so excited! I'm going to Hollywood NEXT MONTH! Wow! Well, I've been really really busy attending acting and image/runway workshops at World Talent! This past weekend was extra busy. We had a 5 hour workshop on Saturday - 8am to 1pm. A guy named John Homa came from the mainland to coach us more on acting and fun stuff like that. His voice is really neat -- it's low. Mr. John helped me, giving me tidbits on how to deliver my monologues better. I learned alot from him.
And I got to see my IMTA friends!!!!!!! We didn't see each other for ONE week since we had a week off for Thanksgiving. So it was super neat seeing and playing with them again!
Yesterday, I went to my image/runway class with Vai. I had fun! There were some of my IMTA friends in that class, too. Then after that was done at 3pm, mom and I went to Ala Moana to walk around and try on clothes! Mom said we'll wait until it goes on sale to buy them. It was raining really really hard, too!
Then at 5pm, we had mock-up auditions/interviews with Vitek and Michelle at World Talent. They liked me! They really liked me! They smiled when I did my monologues, commercials, et cetera. It felt really good, because I tried my very best. I practice every day with mommy and my brothers and mom always tells me that the only thing she expects from me is that I try my very best. That's the only thing she wants me to do. She said that's how I can say THANK YOU to God for my "talent" and to show everybody how grateful I am for your support. So, that's what I did. This is my very first time that I tried my best and I like the feeling of it! I even had fun! So Hollywood is only one month away and I'm super duper excited!
We have more workshops this weekend PLUS the Krispy Kreme donuts on Sunday! I'll be with my dad at Kakaako Park distributing donuts and mom will be at Geiger Park distributing to the folks on this side of the island. Thank you so much for supporting me!
That's it!
I love you!

A-L-O-H-A!!!! A lot has happened since I last wrote in my diary, and I'll tell you all about it! Firstly, Miss Eva, my Image and Modeling Coach, was transferred to New York and my new Image and Modeling Coach is Mr. Vai, but we call him "Vai". He's from Hawaii. He's really really super nice and I'm learning a lot from him. At our Saturday workshops, Vai doesn't require our parents to be with us, unlike Miss Eva. Mom doesn't mind because she gets to spend some "alone" time with my dad for two hours. Vai plays great music when we're practicing our "modeling"/walk. He always walks before we do, to give us an idea of what not to do and what to do. I think that's cool. I learn faster that way. I'm in-between deciding which monologue to use at IMTA. We've been going back and forth since some of the monologues are not "age-appropriate". I need to find a monologue that I'm comfortable saying. I think I found one, so we'll see. We're also supposed to decide on a commercial. I have two that I like: Jelly Belly and "My mom tells me to do..." Those two are fun to say.
Ms. Michele, my acting coach, is really nice, too. I'm learning lots from her. She videotapes us during our workshops so that we can watch ourselves later and see where we can improve. I'm working on projecting more (talkign more loudly) and being more expressive with my face, hands and things like that.
I love my friends at IMTA. They're very positive, happy and they all try very hard. They always encourage me and support me. I can't wait to go to IMTA!!!
We saw my proofs of my last photo session -- this photoshoot was for IMTA. The pics came out really nice -- even mom likes it! I had more fun with this photo session than the first one. Anyway, my actual headshots are being made now. We also bought the CD with the nearly 100 pics that were taken at this photoshoot, so I'll have mom post some of them on this Web site in a couple of days.
I have more classes this weekend so I'll give you an update later.
Thank you all for your support!
That's it!

A-L-O-H-A!
This is Prya! I just wanted to share with you the excitement I had this past week!
Wednesday, October 19, 2005, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.: I spent four hours with my Image/Runway Coach, Miss Eva. Yes, four hours -- from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. My mom was with me. I like Miss Eva. She's funny, tall and has a funny accent. Dad says she's from New York. Oh, and she has long long hair, but puts it up all the time, so you can't really tell how long it is.
Miss Eva taught me how to speak louder and how to "runway walk". This walk is different than the "catwalk" that older models do. I'm young, so I'm not supposed to shake my "booty" when I walk. Chin up, stand straight, look above the audience's heads and walk. Pose for three seconds, one-one-thousdand, two-one-thousand, three-one-thousand -- walk. I learned that off stage, I can do whatever, make noise, laugh -- whatever. But once I get on the stage, it's SHOWTIME. Strike a pose and do my thing! My different poses were: sweet, sassy, and Aloha. It was neat.
"Aloha, my name is Prya Oliveira and I am 7 years old." That's the intro of my introduction. I must remember to speak loud, smile and be excited so that the judges (directors & producers) are impressed with me and will remember me.
"Jelly Belly Jelly Beans..." that's the opening line of my monologue. I must speak louder, but not "yelling". That's something I have to work on. I need to use facial expressions and use my body language, too. I'll work on that.
"Half Price Sale on Lemonade..." that's the opening line of my commercial. Just like my monologue, I need to work on speaking louder. This is a commercial so I need to remember that I want to "sell" this to customers. I have to be "pushy" yet get my point across so that they "come and buy lemonade."
We even got to put on a little bit of makeup -- not much. Miss Eva said to put enough to cover the glare on my face, the circles under my eyes and just a little lip gloss to splash a little "tint" on my lips.
Oh, and my hair -- my baby hair is always on my face, so I've been using a hair band to train my hair to go back.
That's it for today!

Wednesday, October 19, 2005, 4:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
My second photoshoot this Saturday is for the IMTA competition, so we brought all my clothes to Vitek this evening for a wardrobe consultation. The whole goal here is to have Vitek choose which of my clothes would be appropriate for my photoshoot. Mom and I went shopping at The Gap and Old Navy earlier this week to buy a couple of different tops, jackets, pants and skirts to make a variety of outfits. I don't fit my old clothes anymore. Mom said I lost weight and got taller.
Anyway, Vitek liked EVERYTHING we got! He said that we picked the right clothes. Mom told him that it was ME who chose it! I had fun. I even bought about three hats, too, to match my different outfits. Vitek didn't choose any of my black shoes. He liked my white and purple covered tenney shoes, my black and pink covered tenney shoes, my pink and white casual shoes and my green slippers. Oh, and he liked my white and blue bag for the "beach look".
Vitek also told me I had to cut three more inches off my hair to add more bounce. He also said that I would look taller. I was sad since Aunty Lynn (from Hair Hut) already cut three inches off last week. Vitek told me not to worry since my hair will grow back.
That's it!

Saturday, October 22, 2005, 10:00 a.m.
Before my photoshoot, I went to see Uncle Peter at Ho'onani Salon & Day Spa to trim my hair 3 inches! I like it at Ho'onani. Everybody there are very very nice. You should go there. I even got to eat, too. Aunty Kelly wanted paint my nails, but I told her I couldn't since I was going on a photoshoot. She told me to come back later.

Sunday, October 22, 2005, 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
I TOTALLY loved my photoshoot. I can't remember the photographer's name, but he and the "make-up/fashion" lady came from L.A. and they were so so so much fun! The make-up/fashion consultant chose three outfits -- she mixed and matched my wardrobe and it was totally neat! Mom was totally shocked in the outfits she put together. Oh -- you have to meet my make-up/fashion lady. She's not as tall as Whitney, Eva or even Robyn, but she's taller than me! And her hair is out of this world! I should've asked her if it was her real hair. It looks like "dread locks" -- well, that's what mom said. But it's really nice, too. Anyway, she used a belt with all make up brushes and stuff like that in it. It almost looks like a toolbelt but without the tools. Neat.
The photographer called me "sweetpea". I liked him. I can't remember his name right now, but he's like a famous photographer. He made me feel very comfortable and I had lots of fun with him. Mom watched me during my photoshoots, I told her it was OK. Some kids didn't want their parents watching them. But I like when my mom is there. Oh, they played music, too. It's much better to do a photoshoot with funky music!
The first look, I used my "cowboy" type of clothes: green/brown jacket, green/brown (squares) shirt, and a jean skirt with boots. Oh -- and my matching cap. My hair was curled. I like when my hair is curled. The pics were taken indoors -- in the studio. It was great!
Second look, my hair was "straightened" -- oh, that was really neat! My outfit ... hm... what did I wear? Let me think. I can't remember that one. I'll get back to you on that. These pics were taken outdoors. Although it was raining, we didn't get wet!
My last look was the "sporty" look. I used another jean skirt with a pink long sleeve top. And my hair was up in a ponytail. Oh, and LOTS and LOTS of hairspray! These pics were taken indoors.
All in all, I had tons of fun! I can't wait to see the pics later this week!

Sunday, October 23, 2005, 3:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m.
Aloha! Today I had Miss Eva again from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. I did a "cold read" and runway walk. I even got to use Miss Eva's watch and ring for a while since I did a great job on my cold read. I wanted to do my Jelly Belly monologue, but we ran out of time. I had fun seeing my friends again and playing with them. The like the runway part. I'm going to practice this week becuase I know I can do better.
It was along day. I'm tired.
We'll look at my photoshoot pics on Tuesday. I'll let you know how it turns out.
I see Miss Eva again this Saturday from 10am - 130pm, then Miss Michele (monologue coach) from 2-3pm. Then I'll see Miss Evan again on Sunday, October 30th from 1-3pm for more runway practice. Miss Eva is moving to New York early next month and we'll have another coach after that. I'll miss her.
That's it!

October 8, 2005
Aloha! This is Prya! Miss Eva, my modeling/runway coach, told me that from now on, I have to say "Aloha" instead of "hello/hi". She said that when we're up in L.A., to say "Aloha" to everyone, especially the judges, directors, producers and designers! They love it!
It was very busy at World Talent today. They had a lot of things happening there today. So, our workshop was held in the room that auditions are normally heled in, which was cool.
I had fun today. I only had my acting class with Ms. Michelle. She helped us with our monologues and I enjoyed it. Oh, just in case I never told you, they always have a camera on filming us during the workshop so that we get used to it being there. For me, I always liked it when dad and mom video taped us at parties and stuff like that, so I'm used to it!
I see Ms. Eva again this Saturday PLUS Ms. Michelle from 12noon to 4pm. It'll be a long day, but I'm looking forward to it! And then on Sunday, I'll see you at my benefit!
Thank you for your support!
That's it! Bye!

October 1, 2005
Hi, everybody! This is Prya. My mom's actually the one typing, but I'm telling her what to type, but she's correcting my English.
Today was my first class with our modeling coach, Eva. Eva's not from here. I think she's from New York or something. Anyway, my modeling class was from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eva told us that we were now "in training" until the competition. I can't eat at any fast food anymore (no more McDonald's for me), no sodas, no fried food (yikes - no fried spam), and no more beaches. I can play outside, but I have to use something called SPF 50 or 75 and/or use a hat. Eva told me that I shouldn't lose any weight or gain either. That means, I'll have to eat good food with my mom -- roast chicken, fish (I never ate fish before) and salad. I can only eat ice cream as a "reward" for doing something good. And since they don't want my teeth to get all "funky", I have to stay away from candy.
To help my mouth stay moist, I'll be eating lots of apples, and chewing gum and replacing it with new gum every 15 minutes. Also I won't be eating or drinking anything that causes mucus: chocolate milk, milk, ice cream, etc. This is three hours before classes and before the actual competitions and auditions. She will also teach me how to drink water correctly. I didn't know there was a correct way to drink water. Eva will also teach me how to stand in line for two hours, which is going to happen at the competition.
Eva also told me that I needed to get my hair trimmed -- like three inches off! There goes my "highlights" -- my natural "highlights" on the bottom of my hair. It was getting to look blonde. Oh, well. She said my hair needs VOLUME. ;) Oh, and since I have tons of baby hair that goes all over my face, I'll be training my hair to stay away from my face -- using a "hair band" while at home. Oh, yes, and NO MORE nail polish, earrings, bracelets, or any other type of jewelry while we're in L.A. I'm sad because Aunty Adele and my cousin, Jessica, painted my nails pink last week. My toenails and fingernails look so pretty, too!
Eva told us that as soon as we check in at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, there will be tons of talent scouts, directors, producers and designers walking around and talking with parents and children. We won't know who they are, though, but they'll be watching us. So we need to behave because "you never know".
Let's see. What else. I like Eva. She was nice. My mom was with me for my modeling class. Starting next week, she won't have to be with me.
I also saw my acting coach today from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Her name is Michelle. Michelle really liked the monologue I made. She said she'll help me make it longer. She told my mom she was impressed that I wanted to make my own monologue at such a young age. She told me to "keep it up". During acting classes, I said my "Lemonade" monologue. That was fun. I have to practice that.
I also saw my talent agent, Robin. I didn't see her for a long time. She said she'll check her calendar to see if she can go to L.A. with us in January. I hope she can go.
That's it for now, folks. I'll give you an update next week!
Thank you for supporting me! I'm excited!
That's it! Bye.
Prya.

September 24, 2005
Today was my first IMTA workshop at World Talent. My mom was with me for the first half hour, and then all parents had to leave for the last 45 minutes of our workshop (class). Oops, I can't remember my new acting coach's name now. Sorry. I'm sure I'll remember her name later. We did A LOT of listening today. My acting coach told us what to expect in the weeks to come as well as what to expect at IMTA in Los Angeles. She said we're now in TRAINING and laid down some strict rules: no eating or drinking dairy products two hours before workshops/auditions because it causes mucus (so sad because I LOVE my chocolate milk), no more drinking ANY type of sodas (good bye Coke!), no eating two hours before workshops/auditions, eat lots of apples (especially green apples), and have a bottle of water with me all the time. She also said that she will teach us breathing techniques to keep calm and relaxed -- "A calm actor is a great actor". Oh, yes, she also told us to be DESCRIPTIVE whenever we're talking. No more simple answers. For example, when someone asks me how I am, my answer can't be, "I'm fine". It has to be, "Great. I did this .... I went to .... I saw ...." and stuff like that. And she said that we all have to speak positive, walk positive, and think positive.
Next week is my first runway workshop, which will be for two hours! Then we have another one-hour acting workshop with my acting coach. I'll give you an update next week!
Thanks for checking my Web site again!
That's it. Bye!
Love,
Prya
