For the next year, Prya was introduced to the world of acting. She constantly dealt with stage fright, she went on auditions when she didn't feel well, she struggled with her lines for hours and hours, and she just dealt with the whole mental challenge of "Do I want to do this anymore or not?" As parents, it was hard for us to see her go through so much "anxiety". Little did we know that she was experiencing things that all actors and actresses experienced.
Prya understood that "stopping" was an option, but she chose not to take it. When she "fell", she picked herself up, dusted herself off and started all over again, determined and persistent as ever. Her persistence, confidence, focus and enthusiasm were easily misinterpreted by some. However, Prya was a girl who was excited about her dream!
In 2005, Prya was invited to audition for IMTA's (www.imta.com) “Hooray for Hollywood 2006”, a competition and convention in Los Angeles, which only a select group of actresses, actors, and models attended. With butterflies in her stomach, she completed her 30-second monologue, screamed and jumped up and down when the talent scout said, “That was great, Prya. Here’s my business card and I’ll see you in
“Hooray for Hollywood” gave Prya the opportunity to learn the latest acting, modeling and talent techniques, and audition for top talent agents, casting directors, television industry professionals and modeling agencies from around the world. It was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for her. Prya met and interviewed with scores of talent agents during this convention that she would never have had an opportunity to see otherwise. Prya also took part in a variety of competitions as well. In just one week, she achieved what would ordinarily take years of effort and tens of thousands of dollars. Many actresses/actors were “discovered” at IMTA conventions such as: Jessica Beil, Eva Longoria, Josh Duhamel, Katie Holmes, Brook Burns, and Elijah Wood, to name a few.
